Gingers & Heliconias

Florida is tropical, so why not let your yard reflect your climate? Now is the time to have all your questions answered about these truly amazing plants. We will learn how to incorporate these “must haves” for your tropical garden.
Speaker: John Goss:
Florida resident for more than 45 years, owner John Goss treks the jungles of Central America to locate new and unique plants that thrive in our similar Florida climate. Plants are started from seed and rhizomes and are carefully grown under John's watchful eyes prior to being offered to the public.

Holiday Plants
November 15, 2023
Join us to learn about holiday plants: selecting, gifting and maintaining poinsettias, amaryllis, begonias, Christmas cacti, Christmas trees, Norfolk Island pines and more. You will leave with a trained eye in selecting the healthiest plants from garden centers and retail stores.
Speaker: Jennifer Pelham
As County Extension Director and Urban Horticulture Agent with the UF IFAS Extension, Martin County, certified instructor in Green Industry Best Practices and a certified Arborist with a Masters in Pest Management from UF, Jennifer has worked in the field from coast to coast for over 21 years.

Jonathan Dickinson State Park

Have you ever wondered what our area was like before the malls and traffic? Step back in time to a place of quiet beauty and watch natures’ dance. We will learn what makes this state park so unique.
Speaker: Rob Rossmanith, Biologist
Rob has been an integral part of restoring the unique mosaic of natural communities that make up the park. Through non-native plant removal and prescribed fire, he has restored thousands of acres and has been able to increase suitable habitat for rare and endangered species.

House of Hope
February 21, 2024
We will learn about House of Hope's robust programs and services, all designed to empower Martin County residents to overcome hunger and hardship. After a general overview, we will focus on House of Hope's gardening and nutrition education program and farm.
Speaker: Lauren Musteller
Lauren is the Director of Enrichment and Engagement for House of Hope and has been with the agency for over seven years. Lauren oversees the gardening and nutrition education program, enrichment center programming, volunteer program, marketing, and more.

Bonsai Trees

The art of Bonsai traces back almost two thousand years. Historically, part of an important part of a family’s heritage, Bonsai simply requires common garden knowledge, some artistic ability and lots of patience. Dennis will introduce us to the techniques he employs to grow and care for this ancient art form.

Dennis has been President/Vice President of the T. C. Bonsai Society for 9 years. His interest in Bonsai began about 15 years ago.

Annual Year End Meeting & Member Appreciation

Please join us for our Year End Meeting and Member Appreciation Event at the
Two Georges Dockside Grille

We end the season with a review of our club’s accomplishments and recognize those special members who helped us achieve our club’s goals. We will also install officers for next season.
A delicious hot buffet luncheon is planned and will be served in a private room overlooking the Marina on the Manatee Pocket, Port Salerno.
The Luncheon includes three entrées, two sides, house salad, homemade rolls and dessert, nonalcoholic beverages, and coffee.
There is Valet Parking and an elevator available for your comfort. Afterwards you may want to explore the marina and the Fish House Art Center and Gallery.
