This session will discuss growing vegetables in Florida, including which vegetables do best in south Florida and how to grow vegetables in containers. 


Session 2 - 11:30 AM

Anthuriums and Philodendrons

Presented by: Mary Lou Pults, Grower and Hobbyist 

Mary Lou has been raising anthuriums and philodendrons since 2000 and has extensive experience growing, propagating, and protecting several types of rare plants. Learn about the best soil mixes, how to ensure plants can survive all kinds of Florida weather and being aware of predators.

Everything You Wanted to Know About the C-44 Reservoir

and STA – But Were Afraid to Ask!

Presented by: Susan Mason, South Florida Water Management District

This fascinating presentation will focus on how plants in the C-44 Stormwater Treatment Area remove nutrients for downstream water quality, provide habitat for wildlife and recreation opportunities for people. The C-44 STA is a component of the Indian River Lagoon (South) restoration project.  You will learn about constructed wetlands, how they work, and their benefits.

Succulents Through the Ages

Presented by: Kimberly Helms, Owner of Beautiful

Bonsai/Sensational Succulents

So, you want to plant a succulent garden? But do you really know what succulent are? This presentation will discuss the history of succulents in our culture, the cultures who used them before us, their arrival in Europe and how we use succulents today. Finally, Kim will share tips for growing succulents.
